Shoes have a way of piling up fast! Unorganized shoes can make a mess of your entryway or closet, but with a few simple tips, you can have them hidden away to keep your space neat and clean!
With limited room, it’s all about finding smart solutions that maximize your space while keeping your footwear organized and accessible. The following tips will have your shoe collection stored neat and tidy no matter how small your space is!
Shoe Organization For Small Spaces
Hide It All Away With A Shoe Cabinet
It’s a challenge to store shoes neatly in the entryway of your house! Guests and household shoes can easily pile up and look like a mess. Shoe cabinets are great because they have two uses: to store shoes and as a table for decor or storage of mail, purses, etc. They work in entryways but could be placed in any area of your house where you require shoe storage. There are a ton of beautifully designed cabinets that you would never guess are actually for shoe storage and fit with the style of your house.

Or A Shoe Bench!
A good alternative to a shoe cabinet is to use a shoe bench! It gives guests a place to sit when putting their shoes on and off and offers easy access to stored shoes. Shoe benches come in many different styles including open shelving or closed shelving similar to a shoe cabinet.

Use An Over The Door Shoe Rack
If you are looking for shoe storage in a closet, you can’t beat an over-the-door shoe rack! It utilizes unused vertical space and keeps all your shoes organized and off the floor, plus shoes can easily be arranged by season, color, or size.

Get A Rotating Shoe Rack
Often used in walk-in closets, a rotating shoe rack can work well for small spaces too! Rotating shoe racks can be placed in the corner of a room or closet taking up minimal space while providing multiple shelves for shoe storage. Smaller shoe racks can also be placed on top of other furniture like a dresser and the shelving is usually large enough to store purses or other accessory items if required.

Use Fabric Storage Boxes
Fabric storage boxes are a great solution for storing seasonal shoes or rarely worn shoes. The boxes can hold multiple pairs, take up very little space, and can be stacked in a closet or hidden underneath a bed. Unfortunately, they may not be the easiest to access for everyday wear, but could come in handy for shoes that need to be stored longer!

Or Try Plastic Shoe Boxes
Plastic storage boxes are another option to organize and store your shoes. The boxes are stackable and fully contained keeping your shoes clean. They work well in closets and can be placed on shelves or furniture giving your space a clean and organized look.

Use Hanging Storage Racks For Your Closet
If you are looking for store shoes in your closet these shoe hanging racks could be a good option. Depending on the style you purchase they can be rather bulky, personally, they are not my favorite option for storing shoes, but can work if you have a fair amount of closet space.

Install Built-Ins
The most expensive option on the list would be to install built-in custom shelving for your shoe collection. The built-ins can be customized to the space so even if you have a small area to work with, you could design the shelving to fit. This may not be the most practical option for most people, but if you don’t mind the cost or effort it could be an excellent option.
Or Floating Shelves
Want a built-in look without the cost? Install floating shelves instead! Rather than having custom cabinetry built for your shoe collection, save some money and do the next best thing by installing floating shelves. Any shelving unit that is large enough could be used, but specific shoe shelves are available.
