If you’re setting up a guest bathroom and are looking for the best bathroom toiletry ideas look no further! It’s easy to forget things when stocking a guest bathroom with all the essentials. To make life easier for you I made a list of all the necessities and extra items, that you need to make your guests feel like they are at a luxury hotel!
This list includes everything from the basics to extra luxe items that will WOW your guests. It’s great for homeowners and business owners who rent an Air BNB. I found lots of deals on items that you can purchase in bulk so that your money goes a little bit farther and if you keep reading till the end I have created a free printable list that you can bring with you when shopping!
Personal Toiletries
Want to make a personalized gift basket for your guests? The ideas I included below are one-time-use items that will make your guests feel extra special!
The list is separated into essential items that most guests will require and some “nice-to-have” items that will make their stay memorable.
Essential Items
- Basic toiletries: Including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap. If you would like to purchase travel-sized toiletries in bulk I found some great ones here.
- Deodorant or deodorant wipes: Deodorant wipes are more affordable since you can purchase them in bulk and most guests will be bringing their own deodorant anyway so they can save them in their purse and use them in case of an emergency. If you are looking to purchase some in bulk you can find them here.
- Toothbrushes: Did you know that toothbrushes and toothpaste are statistically the most forgotten items when traveling? This is an essential item that your guests will be glad you thought of when they forgot theirs.
- Toothpaste
- Loofah: This could be considered an extra item, but I feel like most people prefer to use a loofah over a washcloth when showering so I placed it under the essential items list.
- Mouthwash
- Razors
“Nice-to-Have” Extra Items
- Hair Brush and or combs: This could be considered an essential item, but I feel like it belongs in the “nice-to-have” section. It is a great addition to a personal essentials basket, especially if they have forgotten their own, but chances are they most likely will have one.
- Shower cap: Another “nice-to-have” item, but it’s not something necessary for your guests. Luckily you can purchase one-time use ones for fairly cheap and in bulk.
- Slippers: If you want your guest bathroom to feel like a luxe hotel, supply your guests with a pair of disposable slippers. It’s a nice little gift that they can take home and use later, plus you can get them in bulk off Amazon.
- Disposable laundry bags: Something that I tend to always forget when traveling is a laundry bag. I hate mixing my dirty clothes back in with any clean ones I have in my suitcase, so a laundry bag is a must!
- Bottle of wine: I don’t know about you, but I love to wind down after a long day with a bottle of wine in a bath. This is an extra luxury gift that I am sure most guests would appreciate. It’s a great idea if you have a bathtub that they can enjoy it in.
- Chocolate: You could replace the bottle of wine with chocolate or even better pair them together! Include a few chocolates in the basket so your guests have something to snack on with their bottle of wine.
Bathroom Toiletries
Bathroom toiletries are reusable items that your guests will need, but that you can use for multiple guests. Like the personal toiletry items, there are two lists one essentials list and one “nice-to-have” list.
Essential Items
- Toilet paper: An obvious essential item.
- Hand soap: You can purchase disposable hand soap bottles or save money and refill your own.
- Feminine Products: Includes tampons, panty liners, and pads. You could choose to go with one or all of these choices, but many women have certain preferences so I would go with all three.
- Tissues: Another obvious essential item for a bathroom.
- Shaving cream: Men’s and women’s.
- Dental floss picks: You could also just purchase dental floss, although I feel like the dental floss picks are more convenient and you can store them in a jar on the counter.
- Cotton rounds and or cotton balls: These are great to have on hand for women to remove their makeup or to use when doing their makeup.
- Cotton swabs: They aren’t necessarily an essential item, but I would include them on my list.
“Nice-to-Have” Extra Items
- Poo-Pourri toilet spray: This a great extra item that I’m sure your guests would appreciate!
- Makeup wipes: Super convenient for women especially after a long day.
- Body lotion: If you decide to purchase the travel set of shampoos and conditioners, body lotion may already be included, but it’s nice to have another bottle “just-in-case”.
- Hair spray: This is an item that would be nice to include as an extra, but is not necessary.
- Dry shampoo: I love dry shampoo, it’s especially nice if you’re on a tight schedule for the day. I’m sure any woman would appreciate this being in the bathroom, but it’s not an essential item.
- Hair elastics: It’s the worst when you forget your hair elastics, I was almost tempted to move this to the essentials list, so I would put it near the top of the nice-to-have extra items.
- Aftershave: Most of these extra items are for women, but we can’t forget about the men too! Aftershave would for sure be appreciated by most male guests you have.
- Bath bombs: Who doesn’t love to soak with a good bath bomb? If you have a bathtub it’s a great addition to your guest washroom.
- Shower bombs: If you don’t have a bathtub, don’t worry! They have shower bombs that you can purchase to make your guests stay more spa-like.
Bathroom Essentials
Your bathroom essential items include anything that you need to decorate or supply the bathroom with for regular use. This would include items that guests who stay over use, but the items stay at your home such as a hairdryer. These are items that you should only have to purchase once.
Essential Items
- Bath, hand and face towels: This is a one-time essential purchase that your guests will need. If you want to make your guest bathroom feel like a luxurious hotel waffle towels will give you a high-end look.
- Trash bin: Another essential item for your bathroom.
- Shower caddy: Depending on the style of your shower this item isn’t a must-have, but extra storage space in the shower is always a great idea.
- Shower curtain: Once again if you have shower doors this item may not be required.
- Bathroom accessories: Including a soap dispenser, toothbrush holder and soap dish. It is always a good idea to have a place where your guests can store their toothbrushes and any soap that they may be using.
- Bath rug: Depending on the size of your bathroom I would recommend having a bath mat outside of the shower, but it is also nice to have one at the sink vanity as well to prevent cold feet.
- Storage jars: My philosophy is that you can never have too much storage! Little storage jars come in handy for so many different items including cotton balls, cotton swabs, feminine products, etc.
- Hair dryer: This could go in the “nice-to-have” section, but I feel like a hair dryer is a pretty essential item, no one wants to go to bed with a head full of wet hair.
- Toilet brush: Required to keep your bathroom nice and clean.
- Plunger: Need I say more….
“Nice to Have” Extra Items
- Bathtub caddy: If you have a bathtub and want your guest bath to feel extra luxurious, you can’t go wrong with a bathtub caddy! Perfect for if you gift your guests a bottle of wine, they can relax and unwind in the tub with a book, candle, and glass of wine.
- Tub pillow: If you decide to go with the bathtub caddy, a tub pillow is the perfect accessory for a luxurious comfortable bath!
- Bath robes: Bath robes are a nice “extra” accessory that you can include in your guest bath. Purchase two in a larger size and they can be washed and reused for all of your guests.
- Air freshener: No one wants a stinky bathroom! An air freshener isn’t an essential item, but it will make the bathroom smell a lot better.
- Decorative items: Including plants and artwork. What you choose here will depend on your style and preference.
- Candles: Who doesn’t love to relax with a good-smelling candle? It’s an excellent addition to your tub caddy if you get one!
- Eucalyptus: I love the idea of having dried eucalyptus in the shower. Make your guest bath smell like a spa every time they shower!
